1967年，性空、诚祥二位长老从香港来到加拿大，与已在北美的乐渡长老一起，于1968年成立“加拿大佛教会”；1969年建成加拿大一座汉传佛教寺院——南山寺；1973年，建成湛山精舍，这是加拿大第一座中国传统宫殿式佛寺，也是目前加拿大规模最大的汉传佛教寺院。

  近五十年来来，三长老以弘扬大乘佛法为己任，发大愿心，广建道场，接引无数众生听闻佛法。经过两代人的开拓耕耘，汉传佛教在北美从无到有，从小到大，其弘法利生事业取得了非凡的业绩。目前，湛山精舍在加拿大安大略省有十余座道场，有南山寺、弘法精舍、湛山禅院、倓虚老法师纪念堂、法海禅院、佛海禅院、湛山文物图书馆、湛山学佛院、万佛舍利宝塔和法华禅院等道场。十余座道场各有特色，定期举办特色活动，吸引了不同人群的参与。

  三位长老在加拿大弘扬佛法，得到社会各界的认同和肯定。2013年2月湛山精舍获得英女王伊丽莎白二世钻禧勋章(Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal )。加拿大公民移民和多元文化部部长杰森•肯尼等官员代表总理哈珀亲临湛山精舍颁发。

  In 1967, Venerable Masters Shing Cheung and Sing Hung arrived in Canada from Hong Kong to join Master Lok To, who was already in North America. They together founded The Buddhist Association of Canada in 1968. In 1969, the first Chinese Buddhist monastery in Canada, South Hill Temple, was established. In 1973, Cham Shan Temple was completed and showcased as the first Chinese Buddhist temple with traditional regal architectural design. It is at present the biggest Chinese Buddhist monastery in Canada.

  For the past 50 years, the three Venerable Masters have carried out their mission of propagating Mahayana Buddhism, building monasteries and preaching Dharma to the public. With dedicated efforts of the two generations, Chinese Buddhism has flourished and played an important role in North America. Now in Ontario, affiliated to Cham Shan Temple are more than ten monasteries: South Hill Temple, Hung Fa Temple, Cham Shan Chan Temple, Master Tanxu Memorial Hall, Fah Hoy Temple, Fo Hai Temple, Cham Shan Buddhist Library, Cham Shan Buddhist Learning Center, Ten Thousand Buddhas Sarira Stupa, Fah Wah Temple, etc. Each location has its own characteristics and they hold different regular activites to serve the public of different backgrounds.

  The distinguished work of the three founding Masters has received favorable recognition from the community. In February 2013, Cham Shan Temple was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. It was presented personally on behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper by Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, the Honorable Jason Kenney.

  To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Chinese Buddhism propagation of the three founding Masters, Cham Shan Temple is holding a celebration banquet in June 2017. Details are as follows:
